You Know You've Studied Too Much Political Science

....when your first thought on seeing this video is "If this had happened, it would teach us a lot about changing gender norms in post-conflict reconstruction"...

    Clearly an important step forward...

    Honestly I'm not sure which was the better touch, the "good mother to her children" (random tangent- favorite book of mine has this great conversation about how history would re-rank male leaders if caring for their families was a priority- Charles I got some serious points back)or the "she'll bring a level head approach to the killing" line.

    Back tot he point about changing post con conditions though, i think its interesting that these troops are all the ones we apply to democratically elected woman, both in politics and in the business sector. Are the strengths of a good dictator the same as those of a good leader under less violent conditions? It seems to me less likely that this actually represents a change in the post con expectations but rather a change in conceptions of leadership regardless of the environment.
